School Outings and Field Trips

Currently Full Circle Adventures offers Field Trip Outings tha compliment the Grade 7 Science Curriculum on Food and Fibre.

Native Plants and Their Cultural Uses – Field Trip Fall 2009/Spring 2010 This field trip to a local Calgary Park, the Cross Conservation Area or the Cochrane Ranche Historic Site, encourages students to place plants to their actual habitat. Students will learn to identify plants through their texture, aromas and leaf structure, the role of the plant in the eco-system and the historical use of plants by early Europeans and First Nations as both food and fibre.

The potential locations for seasonal dwellings of early indigenous peoples will be explored through discussions of the available food and water resources, available shelter access to tools and traditional territories. This ties the story together to form an understanding of the uses of plants as food and fibre within a local eco-system.

This program compliments Unit B of the Grade 7 Science Curriculum on Food and Fibre.
Program Time: 2 hours

Please check back as we will be adding more grades to our outdoor curriculum offerings in the near future. Or Contact Us and let us know you are interested in this programming for your class.
